The Untended Ritual explores the small, recurring acts that structure a woman's day: the routines performed alone, the preparations made before stepping into the world, the domestic rhythms that pass largely unnoticed. Some of these rituals are born of necessity or societal demand, but are often reclaimed as moments of self-care and joy.

This series developed from my own experience as an empowered feminist, often questioning the meaning and value of my own rituals. This questioning became particularly prominent when a family member's serious illness placed me in a caregiver role, where I was thrust into domestic roles that I had previously rejected.

In the first of this series, a woman is shown applying makeup: a ritual that can represent self-expression but also a social tax and obligation that men are not asked to perform.

Figurative paintings exploring posture, gaze, and the quiet tension of a person caught in a private moment. These works range from tightly cropped studies to full compositions, united by an interest in how color and light shape the presence of the figure.

These paintings document my experiences and travels through the meals that marked them. Each dish carries the memory of a specific place, a moment shared, a culture tasted for the first time or returned to again. A salmon roll from a favorite counter, dumplings ordered on a rainy afternoon, a bowl eaten alone in a new city.
